Laser clad layer Quarite NR

Quarite NR is a cutting-edge laser clad layer designed for environments where corrosion resistance is critical. Perfect for applications that require a balance of extreme corrosion protection and moderate wear resistance, Quarite NR offers superior performance in sectors such as chemical industries, offshore, and maritime operations.

Unique alloy provides enhanced protection

Unlike traditional chrome or nickel-chrome coatings, Quarite NR’s unique alloy provides enhanced protection from both general corrosion and sub-corrosion, ensuring that critical machinery remains operational longer. In addition to its exceptional corrosion protection, Quarite NR is highly resistant to external impacts, ensuring it doesn’t crack or peel away under stress. Even in the rare case of a dent caused by an impact, repairs can be conducted efficiently without the need for dismantling equipment, saving both time and costly process stoppages.

Benefits of Quarite NR

Quarite NR combines long-lasting durability with state-of-the-art corrosion resistance. Key features include:

  • Corrosion resistance
According to salt spray tests, Quarite NR delivers at least 4 times the corrosion protection of traditional nickel or nickel-chrome coatings, making it ideal for harsh and corrosive environments.
  • Wear resistance
Its robust structure offers strong resistance to wear, reducing downtime and prolonging equipment life.
  • Thermal shock resilience
Capable of withstanding extreme temperature fluctuations, Quarite NR maintains its integrity under stress.
  • Impact resistance
Its tough coating resists external impacts without cracking or peeling, and repairs are easily performed without disassembly.
  • Cost-effectiveness
Quarite NR provides superior protection at a competitive price, lowering the total cost of ownership over time.

Quarite NR vs Traditional Coatings

Quarite NR offers far more than 4 times the corrosion resistance of traditional nickel-chrome coatings, ensuring that your equipment performs longer in even the harshest conditions. In saltwater environments, the persistent issue is corrosion, particularly at the exposed ends of hydraulic cylinder rods which are always (partially) exposed, making them prone to severe corrosion.

Traditional coatings such as chrome, HVOF, and ceramic layers often fail in these applications due to the inherent porosity. Due to the lack of protection from an oil film created by the cylinder movements, the pours of traditional layers are not protected, leading to severe corrosion. Unlike these traditional coatings, Quarite NR’s dense, pore-free structure delivers superior long-term protection at a highly competitive price point.

Quarite NR for Corrosive Environments

Quarite NR is ideally suited for components frequently exposed to highly corrosive conditions and mechanical wear, such as in the offshore, maritime, dredging, and chemical industries. It is particularly effective in protecting hydraulic cylinder rods and propeller shafts from the damaging effects of saltwater exposure and aggressive exhaust emissions. Additionally, Quarite NR offers excellent protection in maritime conditions, including splash zones or fully submerged subsea components. Its ability to withstand these challenging environments helps reduce the frequency of repairs and operational downtime, making it an essential solution for critical equipment.
